Statement from the
New York State Association of Chiefs of Police

The New York State Association of Chiefs of Police stands in support of the dedicated correctional officers of New York State, who put their lives on the line every day to ensure the safety and security of our communities. Their unwavering commitment to maintaining order in our correctional facilities is essential to public safety, and their sacrifices should never be overlooked.

We recognize the many challenges correctional officers face, including increasingly dangerous working conditions, and we support their efforts to improve workplace safety and end policies that place them at unnecessary risk. These brave men and women deserve the highest level of respect, resources, and protection as they perform their critical duties.

We urge state leadership to reach an agreement that allows corrections officers to return to their important work and leave the picket line. Corrections officers deserve a safe work environment and fair compensation. We encourage corrections officers to resume their duties while negotiations on their working conditions continue, and we offer our full support as they navigate this process.

The Association remains committed to advocating for policies that support our correctional officers and ensure they have the tools and safeguards necessary to perform their jobs effectively. We appreciate their service and honor their dedication to the safety of all New Yorkers.
