SUBJECT: Law Enforcement Elder Abuse Toolkit

Law enforcement plays a unique and critical role in identifying and responding to elder abuse and financial exploitation. To assist law enforcement with the investigation of elder abuse, the NYS Committee for the Coordination of Police Services to Elderly Persons has developed a Law Enforcement Elder Abuse Toolkit. The resources provided in the toolkit include: explanation of various forms of elder abuse; investigative checklists to utilize when investigating elder abuse; training documents, videos and online courses; New York State specific statutes related to elder abuse; and informational brochures for seniors with tips to keep them safe. All resources are categorized and available for download from the links provided on the attached toolkit document.

The Committee hopes that this toolkit will be a valuable resource to further equip your agency with tools to investigate and inform older adults of the multidimensional aspects of elder abuse. Should you have any questions regarding the toolkit, please contact Alison Floyd at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
