POSITION TITLE: Law Enforcement Coordinator

SALARY: $63,000 annually, plus health, dental, vision and retirement savings plan benefits

POSITION LOCATION: Northern New York, Northern Pennsylvania, Quebec and Eastern Ontario, Canada

MAGLOCLEN is one of six Regional Information Sharing Systems (RISS) centers funded by Congress through the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs. The Law Enforcement Coordinator reports to the Field Operations and Training Manager.

The position of Law Enforcement Coordinator is responsible for providing effective liaison between MAGLOCLEN headquarters and member law enforcement and criminal justice agencies to promote greater understanding of MAGLOCLEN, information and intelligence sharing, and utilization of MAGLOCLEN-RISS services and resources. The Law Enforcement Coordinator promotes use of MAGLOCLEN and RISSNET services in the assigned region through training and meetings with local chiefs of police, sheriffs, district attorneys and operational enforcement officers. The Law Enforcement Coordinator facilitates and coordinates the use of MAGLOCLEN services, including analytical services, equipment loans, training, and electronic access to RISSNET and partner agency resources. Develops and conducts training or presentations for MAGLOCLEN members, MAGLOCLEN staff or the criminal justice community. Collects and reports agency success stories and quotations resulting from the use of MAGLOCLEN services.


This is a full-time exempt position.

Headquarters location will be in New York state.

Candidate must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and be willing to drive a vehicle for an extended period of time throughout New York state, Northern Pennsylvania, and Eastern Canada.

Candidate must be willing to travel as needed, including air. Work related travel will be reimbursed.

Ability to communicate effectively and professionally both verbally and in writing, with skill in public speaking.

Requires strong computer skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, and other software programs. Knowledge and use of the Internet is also critical.

Must possess the ability to train others, both in a classroom or one-on-one type environment. Strong facilitation and interpersonal skills.

Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with a strong attention to detail.

Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and tasks and work with stringent deadlines.

     • Must be able to exercise independent judgement, discretion and high level of confidentiality.

 • Must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently with little supervision.

Must successfully pass a background investigation prior to employment (includes credit check, DMV, criminal history, employment history, educational history, and personal and professional references.)


Candidate must currently work, or have previously worked, a minimum of five years as a law enforcement officer in an investigative assignment. Desirable law enforcement experience includes undercover assignments, investigations, surveillance, intelligence or command responsibilities that would lend insight to the provisions of MAGLOCLEN services and provide contacts with law enforcement in the assigned region; AND

Candidate must have graduated from an accredited four-year college or university. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for educationor any equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the desired level of knowledge, ability and skill may be considered.

Preference will be given to candidates with familiarity and prior use of MAGLOCLEN services.
